The Swiss Foundation
for Research in Microtechnology FSRM is an independent non-profit
organization in the field of microtechnology. It promotes the research
results and the transfer of R&D outputs in industry. It offers
short courses for specialists in industry and research, support for
establishing partnership, administration and logistic assistance,
information about international projects, all microtechnology related
information. It operates in Switzerland and Europe.

Das Eidgenössische Institut für Geistiges Eigentum hat seinen Sitz
in Bern. Es ist für die Belange des Geistigen Eigentums in der Schweiz
zuständig. Es wurde 1888 gegründet. Am 1. Januar 1996 erhielt es
den Status einer selbständigen öffentlichrechtlichen Anstalt. Das
Institut ist in betriebswirtschaftlicher Hinsicht autonom, verfügt
über eine eigene Rechtspersönlichkeit und ist im Handelsregister
eingetragen. Es führt ein eigenes Rechnungswesen und ist in jeder

ITPS will bring Swiss businesses together with

The carefully prepared, individual meetings allow visitors to make

days.
ITPS will take place in Switzerland for the seventh time and has
been very successful in the past. The reason for this lies in the
selection of firms and brokers taking part as well as in the very
detailed interest questionnaire.

Most of the microchip
industry's visionary talents are behind-the-scenes innovators whose
complex circuit designs can best be measured by their practical impact
on our everyday lives. Anyone using an electronic watch, hand-held
calculator, pocket paging device, electronic camera or heart pacemaker
is benefiting from John H. Hall's pioneering work in low power CMOS
integrated circuit technology. Hall's developments have advanced the
state of electronics for the medical, military, telecommunications
and other industries, and for many millions of consumers. Now John
Hall is introducing his latest integrated circuit technology, one
that is likely to surpass his significant prior accomplishments. It
is a synergistic group of IC innovations forming a circuit design
package that can allow the American electronics industry to leapfrog
years ahead of the competition. It is called Tungsten Gate Merged
BiCMOS. While conventional wisdom says the next Generation microchip
will come from shrinking its feature size to a half-micron or less,
requiring hugely expensive new fabrication facilities, John Hall has
devised a better way. His Tungsten Gate Merged BiCMOS quartet of chip
innovations produces a faster, smaller, lower power chip with more
circuit features, but at a tiny fraction of the cost by using standard
2 micron design rules and existing-low cost-2 micron fabrication facilities.
Like many of Hall's prior innovations, which are now accepted standards,
it transcends prevailing semiconductor industry consensus. However,
John Hall's career as a true innovator is full of stories of how his
unorthodox approaches ultimately became industry benchmarks.

The Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) is the
key instrument of the Swiss federal government's technology policy.
CTI encourages and funds joint projects of enterprises, R&D
and higher educational institutions in Switzerland. It supports
the efficient transfer of know-how and new technologies between
R&D-labs and enterprises as well as the transformation of new
technological knowledge into successfully marketable products. In
doing so, CTI also helps to create new jobs in Switzerland.
