ClusterBridge

Through ClusterBridge Alan Hutchison provides “hands-on” international business development services to his clients, taking on various roles ranging from “strategic coach” to “interim manager”.

Alan Hutchison is a seasoned business development professional, with hands-on experience of international business building, as well as restructuring and divestment. He has management, advisory and board experience with both corporate and private ventures.

He founded ClusterBridge in 2002, allowing him to bring to clients more than 20 years of broad technical, operational and commercial “multi-disciplinary” experience, as well as his extensive international network.

Clients are mainly international industrial, engineering and technology companies with the intent to build and grow their business in either existing or new markets. They are seeking the benefits of complementing internal resources with external specialists, giving the flexibility to effectively respond to constant change and challenge.

Client projects typically involve:

  • Identification & Validation of Strategic Opportunities

  • Technology & Product Platform Development

  • Market Channel & Supply Chain Development

  • Partnership Evaluation & Selection

During execution, support activities can include:

  • Fund Raising & Transaction Support

  • Partnership Structuring & Negotiation

  • New Business Building, Integration & Management

  • Team Development & Coaching

For project execution Alan Hutchison can involve other trusted specialists in his network from Europe, North America, South East Asia and the Middle East. Mandates are conducted with impartiality and discretion.

Alan Hutchison has an engineering degree from Oxford University, UK and an MBA from IMD, Switzerland. He has dual British and Swiss nationality and is able to work in English, French and German.

Following his undergraduate degree he spent 5 years in Engineering & Production Management in the UK. He then moved to Switzerland in 1986, and after his MBA worked for 6 years as a Strategy Consultant developing business, operations and information technology strategies for multinationals active in Manufactured Goods, Medical Products, and Consumer Goods. From the early-90’s he built solid international experience in Business & Operations Management, in Europe with a supplier of manufacturing systems, and in Asia with an equipment marketing company.

As an investor Alan Hutchison is an Advisory Board Member of SourcingParts (www.sourcingparts.com), a “Platform for Collaborative Sub-contracting” for build-to-design parts, founded in Switzerland in early-2000.  He also dedicates time to international industrial and economic development initiatives, including:

  • Photonics Manufacturers’ Association Council, USA, (http://pmac.ipc.org); Steering Committee Member

  • APTE Association, Switzerland, a Network for Technology, Marketing & Investment (www.apte.net); Head of APTE Photonics.
